Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to create a decider.

Moutet defended four initial chances in a close deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
